ITT Extends Leadership in Counter-IED Technology With Next Generation Development Award (JCREW 3.3)

CLIFTON, N.J., Oct. 20, 2009 — ITT Corporation (NYSE:ITT) has been awarded a $16 million contract from the Naval Sea Systems Command to develop next-generation technologies that will defeat Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs). This award, the Joint Counter Radio-Controlled Electronic Warfare (JCREW) 3.3, builds on ITT's clear leadership in counter-IED technology, with more than 20,000 JCREW systems designed and built by ITT currently in the field. The contract will fund the first phase of a three-phase System of Systems spiral development effort and cover activities through Preliminary Design Review (PDR).

Under this JCREW 3.3 contract, ITT will support the system development and demonstration phase for mounted, dismounted and fixed site capabilities that that will lead to the Joint Counter Radio-Controlled Improvised Explosive Device Electronic Warfare (JCREW) System of Systems.

JCREW 3.3 represents a significant technological advancement in counter-IED (CIED) defeat systems. This new development represents a change from a component jammer approach to a flexible, open architecture System of Systems solution. These systems will be adaptively networked, and able to exchange data seamlessly.

"This is a critical strategic award for ITT," said ITT Electronic Systems President Chris Bernhardt. "As an established leader in current JCREW efforts, we welcome the opportunity to bring new technologies and system solutions to the fight against IEDs. The result will extend protection and situational awareness for soldiers, whether on foot or in transport, and build upon our two decades of real world operational experience."

The ITT effort will be led from the Electronic Systems site in Clifton, N.J. and supported by its Force Protection Systems site in Thousand Oaks, Calif. and by ITT's Advanced Engineering and Sciences business unit in Annapolis Junction, Md. Several Industry leaders in CIED technologies will also support this contract.
