State Tourism Office Releases 2006 Official Utah Scenic Calendar
Salt Lake City –The Utah Office of Tourism’s award-winning 2006 Official Utah Scenic Calendar is now available at Council Hall and at other locations around the state. The 2006 edition highlights images of the waters of Utah, illustrating what happens to Utah’s Greatest Snow on Earth® when it melts.
“The scenic calendar has been produced by the state for more than 30 years to capture Utah’s spectacular scenery and promote our state to visitors, family and business clients,” says Leigh von der Esch, managing director of the Utah Office of Tourism. “While Utah has been known for its arid climate, the state also offers beautiful lakes, streams and reservoirs that provide more world-class, water recreational opportunities than the traveler may know.”
A photo of Mt. Agassiz in the Uinta Mountains is featured on the cover. Other locations highlighted in the new calendar include: Deer Creek Reservoir; Bear Lake; Dead Horse Point; Lower Calf Creek Falls, Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument; Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area; Fish Lake, Fish Lake National Forest; Lake Mary, Cottonwood Canyons, Wasatch-Cache National Forest; Emerald Pools, Zion National Park; Cascade Springs, American Fork Canyon, Uinta National Forest; Pear Lake/Boulder Mountain, Dixie National Forest; Lake Powell, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area; and the Great Salt Lake. The calendar also contains a greeting from Utah Governor Jon M. Huntsman, Jr.
“The popular Utah Scenic Calendar continues to capture national and international honors for design and photography,” says Janice Carpenter, calendar coordinator for the Office of Tourism. The 2005 edition was selected as one of the five best calendars in the Calendar Marketing Association’s National Calendar Awards Competition. More than 350 calendars were submitted. The Utah calendar also won the silver award for best graphic design. “Our award-winning designer, Scott Hardy, also provided art direction and design for the 2006 edition,” adds Carpenter.
