Applications Available for Utah Co-op Marketing Program

Salt Lake City – Application forms are now available online for Utah’s Cooperative Marketing program.  The Utah Board of Tourism Development recently adopted guidelines for the state’s Co-op plan designed to leverage Utah’s $10 million branding and advertising campaign.  Non-profit entities are eligible to apply for the $2 million appropriated by the legislature for the current fiscal year.   The application and guidelines can be downloaded at http://travel.utah.gov.

“The co-op program is designed to give tourism entities the opportunity to partner with the state and leverage Utah’s advertising dollars,” said Leigh von der Esch, managing director of the Utah Office of Tourism, Governor’s Office of Economic Development.  “Greater consideration will be given to joint projects and to projects that demonstrate the highest potential for economic impact from out-of-state visitors.”

Tourism entities can apply for funding for print and electronic advertising, publications, and other marketing projects that will be approved by the tourism board.  The first application deadline is October 15, 2005.

Those eligible for the co-op program include cities, counties, non-profit destination marketing organizations (DMO’s), and similar public entities that have been established as a non-profit for a minimum of one year.  The Utah Office of Tourism will match up to 50% of the cost of a marketing project up to $100,000 with a $250,000 funding cap per entity per funding cycle.  All projects must utilize the state brand and have a call to action.

The state plans to release $1 million by the end of 2005 and another $1 million will be available during the first half of 2006.  Forms can be submitted to the Utah Office of Tourism from October 1-December 1, 2005 for the first funding cycle.  Applications for the second funding cycle will be accepted from February 1-May 1, 2006.

For additional information on the co-op guidelines and application form, please contact the Utah Office of Tourism, 300 N. State St., Salt Lake City, Utah, 84114, (801) 538-1900.
