State Ethnic Office Sponsors Town Hall Meetings in Salt Lake City, Logan
Salt Lake City – Utah residents are invited to a series of Town Hall Meetings to discuss the new structure of the Office of Ethnic Affairs, the new Drivers License law, and issues affecting the state’s ethnic populations. The next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2005, beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Centro Civico Mexicano, 155 S. 600 W., Salt Lake City. The meeting will be conducted in Spanish with English translation.
Those in attendance at these meetings will include: Yvette Donosso Diaz, executive director, Utah Department of Community and Culture; Leo Gonzalez, director, Office of Hispanic Affairs; Luz Robles, director of Public Policy and Research, Office of Ethnic Affairs; representatives of the Utah Department of Public Safety; representatives from the Mexican Consulate; and federal immigration officials.
On Friday, March 18, the Office of Ethnic Affairs will host a meeting in Logan at the Best Western, located at 250 N. Main. It begins at 6 p.m.
The Office of Ethnic Affairs is also planning to hold additional community meetings later this month in Salt Lake City, Ogden and Orem.
