Utah Travel Council Publishes 2004-2005 Travel Guide

The Utah Division of Travel Development (Utah Travel Council) has announced the publication of its 2004-2005 Utah! Travel Guide, the official State guide to adventure and discovery.  The theme of the Guide this year is "Connect with Utah."

"With this new issue, we've taken the opportunity to consolidate several publications into one," said Spence Kinard, Assistant Director of the Travel Council.  "As we receive information requests about the State via our call center, mail and Utah.com website, we no longer have to place separate publications into an envelope to fulfill our standard brochure packet request.  We'll save about two-thirds in postage alone, compared to prior mailings."  The new guide includes listings for guides and tour operators, accommodations and campgrounds and a four-page foldout state map.

J. Scott Iverson, Publications Manager for the Utah Travel Council, said that the new issue strives to show that Utah is a place where people can connect in a very real way ? with the earth, with one another and with themselves.  "We made a conscious effort to show people doing things in scenic and fun locations, rather than just showing-off the scenery," said Iverson.  "We also made a very different choice for our cover this year.  It shows two sailboats on a peaceful Great Salt Lake at sunset, the message being that Utah has great wet-water activities and adventures, in addition to our reputation for the Greatest Snow on Earth?."  Spatafore and Associates designed the new issue of the Utah! Travel Guide, working closely with Kinard, Iverson and Travel Council Photo Editor, Janice Carpenter.

Inside, the Utah! Travel Guide contains a wealth of information for the traveler about the many and varied sights and activities Utah offers.  Special attention is given to Utah's National and State Parks and Recreation Areas, Scenic Byways and Backways, resorts and outdoor adventures from winter sports to off-highway adventures to wildlife watching opportunities, and to the variety of ancient and modern cultures that makeup the state.

"We also chose to simplify the way we have divided-up the State geographically," said Kinard.  "We have defined our major areas into Southern, Central and Northern Utah, with the Wasatch-Metro area listed as a major subset of the Northern Area.  We hope that visitors to Utah will find this distinction an asset in both planning their trip and in navigating the State."

The Utah Travel Council is a division of the Utah Department of Community and EconomicDevelopment.
