Utah Travel Council Produces Utah Scenic Calendar

2004 Edition Features Photographers

Salt Lake City – The Utah Travel Council’s award-winning 2004 Utah! Scenic Calendar is now available at Council Hall and at other locations around the state.  The 32nd edition of the official scenic calendar features the photographers behind the images of Utah’s geographic beauty.

“We thought it would be fun to showcase the talent behind the lens,” says Dean Reeder, director of the Utah Division of Travel Development, Utah Travel Council.  “We have been producing the calendar for more than 30 years to showcase Utah’s spectacular scenery that people often tell us looks surreal.”

“This year we feature photos and comments of the seventeen photographers whose scenic photographs fill the pages of this full-color calendar that is sure to be another award-winner,” says assistant director Spence Kinard who oversees the publication.  “Each photographer tells us what it is about Utah’s scenic areas that keeps him coming back year after year to take these spectacular pictures.”

Graphic artist Scott Hardy designed this year’s calendar, which depicts Utah’s four distinct seasons as well as featuring the photographers themselves.  Hardy has also designed the Travel Council’s award-winning calendars for the past 17 years.

A shot of Pyramid Butte at Dead Horse Point State Park rising above the morning fog is featured on the cover.  Moab resident Tom Till, who has been contributing to the Utah scenic calendar for 25 consecutive years, took the image.  Other locations featured in the new calendar include:  Arches, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef and Zion National Parks; Little Cottonwood Canyon; Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge; Wasatch-Cache National Forest; High Uintas Wilderness Area; Deseret Peak Wilderness Area; Alpine Loop; Provo Canyon; and Timpanogos Wilderness Area.
